How Does the Community View Tourism?
Communities worldwide have long grappled with the dual impacts of tourism—both its benefits and challenges. The pandemic has intensified this dialogue, prompting communities to reassess their relationship with tourism and explore pathways to make the industry sustainable from economic, social, and environmental perspectives.
To support this effort, over the last four years, we have built the largest database of tourism community sentiment data. This data warehouse spans over 270 destinations, capturing the perceptions, attitudes, and feedback of communities directly affected by tourism. Leveraging our extensive experience and robust dataset, we deliver unique insights to our research partners, empowering them to navigate the complexities of sustainable tourism.
Our research has garnered widespread recognition and has been featured in several prestigious national media outlets. These include USA Today, which highlighted our innovative approaches; Outside Magazine, where our work was showcased for its relevance to outdoor and adventure tourism; PBS, which explored the societal impacts of our findings; and NBC News, which focused on the broader implications of our studies. These features underscore the significance and impact of our research in shaping conversations about tourism, community sentiment, and sustainable development.
